The cliché “life is too short” never really sunk in until the coronavirus pandemic struck the world. Personally, the first 3 months of the year were full of excitement, love, hope, and laughter. I gave birth to a healthy baby boy without complications and that is the best part of the whole year for me. My bundle of joy brought me comfort which helped me deal with the misfortunes that accompanied the pandemic.
Reflecting on the peak season of Covid-19 just sends chills down my spine, the heartbreaks, grief, hopelessness, and tears on the faces of families losing their loved ones is a reminder of how we must cherish family and friends. People lost their loved ones without getting the opportunity to say goodbye or have a last conversation with them. Too often we take the existence of family and friends for granted, we refuse to forgive when we are wronged, we may also feel too proud to apologize when we wrong others forgetting how short life is. If the year 2020 has not taught us anything yet, at least we must learn humility, kindness, and self-respect.
I would urge you to cultivate the habit of apologizing when you wrong someone and forgive people who wrong you. Sometimes apologizing and accepting apologies may be difficult to do, but do not forget it gives peace of mind. Constantly remind your family and friends of your love for them, be kind to strangers, and share with others.
Every person you see out there is fighting their own battles you know nothing about, be your sister’s keeper and give compliments when it's due.
As you grow older you will realize holding grudges is not worthy, because it wears you out. It is rather refreshing to let go of grudges and spend quality time with loved ones. Create fond memories with family and friends while they live, because they could be gone tomorrow.
Until next time XOXO.
